The Church Of The MANAGEABLE God

Institutional churches resort to a manageable god—one who stays in his place. A manageable god patiently overlooks the elevation of man’s tradition over the commandments of God. He never overwhelms with a sense of frightening holiness. Such a docile deity is just as much a fabrication of man’s imagination as Dagon was the fabrication of a man’s hands.

Okay. Now that more “Christian” Colleges have dropped the ban on alcohol and tobacco, what’s next? Anyone familiar with the Bible knows that drunkenness is condemned in the strongest of terms. Scripture plainly states that drunks don’t inherit the kingdom of God (see 1 Cor. 6:9-10). Drunkenness and abuse are condemned in both Testaments.

Church Closings—A Bad Thing?

As long as I can remember, I've heard a loud lament from countless Christian leaders over the fact that thousands of churches cease to exist each year. But I recall only a few express grief over the utter ineffectiveness within the ranks of Christendom. When the Spirit of God has withdrawn from an assembly, closure is the best thing that could happen.

“Inner Man” Prayer

I have seen hundreds of church prayer lists over the years. One thing stands out: the vast majority of the Prayer Requests concern the OUTER MAN (the physical body). With that said, there is a larger emphasis in the Bible on the INNER MAN.
