People are more frenzied about what “might happen” with the Coronavirus than what is “sure to happen” to all of us eventually.
A bit of perspective here: CDC estimates that, from October 1, 2019, through February 29, 2020, there have been 20,000 – 52,000 flu deaths in America. To date, 38 have died from the Corona virus in the U.S.
Johns Hopkins says 4,981 deaths have occurred worldwide due to COVID-19. There are over 7 billion people on earth. The flu has killed far more people in the U.S. than COVID-19 has killed worldwide.
The massive prevention effort to avoid potential illness is far greater than the preparation efforts for certain death. But death is one appointment everyone will keep, and after that the judgment (Heb. 9:27).
Seeing the larger canvas is essential. My friend Marty Von says that we Christians should make God our primary health-care provider. Pandemics will continue to happen on earth. But pandemonium should not be our response. Now is a good time to contemplate eternal things instead of panicking over current events. This too will pass.
By the way, we are in good hands. Trust Him.
