Bad feelings don’t come from bad circumstances, they come from bad thoughts. You can exercise some control over your feelings by controlling your thoughts. So the key to balanced emotions lies in focusing on the right thing/things. When you are going through the valley, it is difficult not to obsess on your problems.
After the trauma, you must reconnect with your purpose. Discouraged people have not only lost their passion, they can lose their purpose. By refocusing on the “next thing” you will think less about the “last thing” that upset you. Of course it takes time to grieve, but there comes a point where you must move on. You have to bury the past, or it will bury you.
The key to “turn-around” begins in the mind. Stop replaying the past through your memories, and start pre-playing the future with your imagination. Get your dream back. Concentrating on your goal will reprogram your emotional outlook. Regrets will give way to expectations. You will find it possible to enjoy life and laugh again. Excitement will return through fresh vision. In time, a sense of fulfillment will overtake futility.
Maybe the Lord wants to “reassign” you for your next season. Your calling does not change, but the specifics might.
- Have a heart-to-heart talk with your Father. Tell Him the “real” things.
- Ask for His guidance. Be humble enough to ASK, instead of ASSUME.
- Sit down right now and write out your goals for the future. Then FOCUS on your assignment.
You will “get over” your history by beginning a new chapter. Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. Grace and GOOD thinking will bring you out. PITS ARE NOT PERMANENT!
